The Ministry of Finance has increased the travel and daily allowance of government employees. The travel and daily allowance of employees from grade one to 22 has been increased by 50%, which will be implemented from July 1 this year. 4920 for grade 20 and 19, 3840 for grade 18 and 17, 2160 for grade 16 to 12 while the daily allowance of an employee of grade 11 to 5 will be Rs. The transport allowance has been increased by Rs 7.50 per kilometer for car and Rs 3.75 per kilometer for motorcycle. Daily travel and mileage allowances of all government employees have been increased by 50%.

The travel allowance has been increased by Rs 15 per kilometer in case of private car use and Rs 6 per kilometer in case of motorcycle use. As per the notification, transport and daily allowance will be applicable for major cities. Daily Allowance will be admissible only for the actual night(s) at the out-station for which daily allowance is claimed. Where night stop is not involved and if absence from Headquarters exceeds four hours, half Daily Allowance will be allowed.

In the country, special allowances of maximum 7200 rupees per day will be allowed for Grade 22 employees. Grade 21 employees will get Rs 6,000 and those in Grade 19 and 20 will get Rs 4,920 per day travel allowance. After the increase, the maximum special daily allowance for grade 17 to 18 employees has been increased. This increase in allowances will be effective from July last month. The transportation cost of the employees has also been increased by 50% to 7.5 rupees per kilometer for vehicles and 3 rupees to 75 rupees per kilometer for motorcycles. the mileage allowance per kilometer for private cars or taxis has been increased by 50% to Rs.15, for motorcycles to Rs.6, for bicycles to Rs.3 and for public transport from Rs.3 to 75 paise per km. Air travel is permitted for employees in Grade 17 and above.

The proposed rates shall not apply where 20 fixed DAs for operational duties are being paid with salary which will be admissible on existing rates i.e. the rates on which the DAs were being drawn at the level on 30.06.2023. Government servants upto BPS 1-19 may stay in Government Guest Houses. Public Sector Corporation. Rest Houses and Motels/Hotels (Minus Five Star Hotels) They can claim actual room rent charges on production of receipts subject to maximum of three DAs in specified stations and one and half DA at non-specified stations. Where no hotel accommodation receipt is produced, the rate of accommodation charges will be admissible equivalent to two DAs in specified stations and one DA at non-specified stations. Specified stations for special rates as notified from time to time are Hyderabad, Karachi. Sukkur. Bahawalpur, DG Khan. Multan, Quetta. Sargodha. Sialkot, Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Islamabad. Faisalabad Peshawar Gawadar, Northern Areas. Muzaffarabad. & Mirpur AJ&K.
