Islamabad: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad has announced a For day holiday in the federal capital in view of the elections scheduled on February 8, 2024. The schedule of national holidays for the year 2024 has been announced. The first official holiday will be on 5th February 2024 on the occasion of Kashmir Day. There will be 8 holidays in educational institutions on the occasion of general elections 2024 across the country.
Public holidays in Pakistan 2024 Notification
The Education Department has announced a public holiday in the private and government educational institutions of Sindh on February 26,2024. The Shab Barat will be observed on February 26 in Pakistan.
Pakistan Day will be a holiday on Saturday, March 23. Eid al-Fitr holidays are expected on April 10, 11 and 12. Labor Day will be a public holiday on May 1. Eid-ul-Azha holidays are expected till June 17, 19, Ashura holidays are expected on July 16 and 17.
Wagah border lahore rangers Parade will be held on August 14, Eid Milad-ul-Nabi is expected on September 16. Iqbal Day is expected on November 9, December 25. Quaid Day and Christmas will be public holidays. Cabinet Division has issued circular for schedule of public holidays for 2024.
The federal government has announced the details of public and optional holidays for 2024, a notification was issued by the Interior Ministry regarding the holidays, according to which there will be a total of 14 public holidays in the year 2024, starting with 5th February is Kashmir Day.

Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan has introduced Many Public and also different Optional Public Holidays for Minorities in Pakistan as Baisakhi, Holi, Janam Asthami, Birthday of Guru Nanak, Good Friday, New year.
Government Servants needing to avail themselves of non-compulsory Holidays shall take prior permission from their Head Department or Concerned Office. There shall be only one Optional Holiday in the case of Muslims and three Optional Holidays for Non-Muslim.
The notification has announced at least 22 optional leave for government employees. Muslim employees are allowed to take only one optional leave while non-Muslim will have three optional leave.
After Eid-ul-Fitr, the notification of new school timings was issued. The Punjab Education Department has issued a notification regarding the new working hours of schools after Eid. According to the notification, from April 26, schools will start at 7:15 a.m. while schools will be closed at 12:45 p.m. Schools will close at 11:15 a.m. on Friday. However, the double shift schools will open from 6:45 to 11:45 while the second shift will start at 12:15.
