Pakistan vs New Zealand Test and T20 Series 2022-23

The schedule of New Zealand cricket team’s tour of Pakistan has been announced. In New Zealand’s tour of Pakistan, the visiting team will play two Tests, eight ODIs and five T20 International matches. The New Zealand team will come to Pakistan in two phases.

Both teams will play two Tests and three ODIs in the first phase, which will last from December 27 to January 15. Both the Test matches are part of the ICC World Test Championship. The visiting team will play 10 whiteball matches in Pakistan from April 13 to May 7 in the second phase. Both the teams will compete in five ODIs and five T20I matches.


The first four T20I matches of the second phase will be played in Karachi on April 13, 15, 16 and 19.

Babar Azam (captain), Mohammad Rizwan (vice-captain Test cricket), Shadab Khan (vice-captain T20 International), Azhar Ali, Sarfraz Ahmed (wicket-keeper), Mohammad Hafeez, Fawad Alam, Abid Ali, Abdullah Shafiq, Fakhr Zaman Imam-ul-Haq, Shaun Masood, Zeeshan Malik, Danish Aziz, Haider Ali, Haris Sohail, Hussain Talat, Imran Butt, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdal Shah, Rohail Nazir (Wicket Keeper), Emad Wasim, Yasir Shah, Usman Qadir, Zafar Gohar, Emad Butt, Fahim Ashraf, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Musa, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sohail Khan, and Wahab Riaz.

New Zealand Squad:

New Zealand has announced their squad for the home T20 series against Pakistan, with Mitchell Santner in the first match of the three-match series and Ken Williamson in the second and third T20s. The Kiwis squad includes Martin Guptill, Scott Keglin, Glenn Phillips, Ash Sodhi, Tim Seifert, Todd Astle, Doug Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, and Blair Tucker.

Loki Ferguson and Hamish Bennett have been ruled out due to unfit matches, while Trent Bolt, Tim Southee, Kyle Jamie Sun, and Daryl Mitchell have been ruled out of the first T20 match due to a West Indies Test match. The first T20 and then ODI series against Pakistan and New Zealand will be played, the first T20 match will be played on December 18 in Auckland, the second match on December 20 in Hamilton, and the third match on December 22 in Napier.

The Pakistan squad will leave Lahore for New Zealand on 23rd November 2020. The national squad will complete its 14-day quarantine in Lincoln. In the meantime, the squad will have to live in a biosecure bubble while they will not be able to participate in any cricket activities, but after 14 days of quarantine, this bubble will end. Before flying to New Zealand, the national players and support staff will take 19 Tests in Lahore.

Pakistani T20 Squad against New Zealand:

Pakistan Cricket Board has announced an 18-member squad for the T20 against New Zealand. The team will be led by Babar Azam and vice-captain Shadab Khan. Sarfraz Ahmed and Hussain Talat have returned to the T20 squad. Mohammad Rizwan, Haider Ali, Mohammad Hafeez, Iftikhar Ahmad, Khushdal Shah, Hussain Talat, Mohammad Hasnain, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, Usman Qadir, Wahab Riaz, Fahim Ashraf, Emad Wasim, and Abdullah Shafiq are also in the squad. The T20 series between Pakistan and New Zealand will start on December 18.

The first T20 match between Pakistan Shaheens and New Zealand XI will be played on December 23 while the second match will be played against Northern Knights on December 27. The third match is scheduled against Wellington Firebirds on December 29 and the fourth against Canterbury Kings on January 1. The fifth match is to be played against New Zealand XI on January 3, while Pakistan Shaheens will once again face the same opponent on January 5.

A 16-member squad for the four-day match against New Zealand A has also been announced. The team will be captained by Rohail Nazir. Imran Butt, Imamul Haq, Zeeshan Malik, Shaun Masood, Abid Ali, Azhar Ali, Yasir Shah, Sohail Khan, Emad Butt, Haris Sohail, Fawad Alam, Muhammad Abbas, Zafar Gohar, Naseem Shah Danish Aziz are also in the team. The four-day match against Pakistan Shaheens and New Zealand A will start on December 17.
