World Junior Squash Championships 2023 Winner

The World Junior Squash Championship 2023 was finally won by Pakistan’s Hamza Khan after 37 years. In the championship match, he defeated Zakaria 3-1, winning by scores of 10-12, 14-12, 11-3, and 11-6. When John Shere Khan, a squash legend, won the World Junior Squash Championship, Pakistan last won the championship 37 years prior. The federal government has decided to reward Hamza Khan with a cash award for winning the World Junior Squash title. The Prime Minister will give Hamza Khan a cash award of Rs.10000000.

World Junior Squash Championships 2023 Winner

On Saturday, Maza Khan qualified for the World Junior Squash Championships final, making history as the first Pakistani to do so in 15 years. The Pakistani Hamza Khan won the decider to advance to the final despite the Frenchman’s valiant efforts to get back into the game. The score was 11-8, 11-4, 10-12, 9-11, and 13-11 in favour of Hamza. Since Amir Atlas in 2008, Hamza was the first Pakistani athlete to make it all the way to the championship game. Hamza Khan trained under the supervision of Directorate of Army Sports, facilities were provided by Army Sports to prepare for the World Junior Event.

The young Pakistani entered the final four after earlier defeating Malaysia’s Joachim Chuah 11-8, 9-11, 11-7, and 12-10. On Wednesday, Hamza defeated Samuel Grets of the Netherlands 12-10, 11-6, 11-3, and 11-7 to advance to the round of 16. Hamza Khan, Moinuddin, and Huzaifa Ibrahim Khan, three Pakistani athletes, were sent to compete in the competition. Hamza Khan won the world junior title for Pakistan after 37 years while John Sher Khan last won the world title for Pakistan in 1986.
