ISLAMABAD: According to the meteorological department, showers and snowfall is expected in Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Pothohar, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir along with Islamabad in the next 24 hours. The weather is expected to be cold and dry in other parts of the country. During the last 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country while severe headaches prevailed in northern Balochistan and upper areas. Fog prevailed in the plains of Punjab. According to the report, the minimum temperature was recorded at Laha, Skardu, Astor minus 11, Gopis minus 10, Gilgit minus 6, Bagrut, Kalam, and Parachinar minus 5 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be rains in different parts of Punjab including Lahore. Due to the rains, the temperature will drop further while fog will also increase. The Meteorological Department has predicted that this year’s winter rains will be better than last year. The meteorological department said that rain is expected in Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, and Kasur, while heavy rain is expected in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Gujarat, Mandi Bahauddin, and Sialkot.

According to the Meteorological Department, westerly winds will enter the western parts of the country on Saturday night. On Sunday, westerly winds will spread to the upper and central parts of the country, which is likely to increase the severity of cold in the upper areas. Rain and snowfall are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Chitral, and Waziristan from Monday morning.

Snowfall is expected in Murree, Galyat, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Astor, Hunza, Neelam Valley, Bagh, Rawlakot. The meteorological department has forecast fog in the plains after the rains and haze in the areas adjoining the Pothohar region.

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature dropped by 10 degrees Celsius to 10.5 degrees Celsius today. According to Meteorological Department Khalid Malik, the current cold wave is likely to continue till Friday, after which the temperature will gradually start rising.
