Ramazan 2025 Office Timings: A Look at the Federal Government’s New Schedule

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the federal government has announced its new schedule for office timings. The Establishment Division has issued a notification outlining the revised working hours for federal government offices across the country. This adjustment aims to accommodate employees who are fasting while ensuring the continued efficiency of government operations. Having experienced Ramazan in various government settings myself, I know how important these adjustments are for both productivity and observance.

The notification details the working hours for both five-day and six-day work weeks. For federal government institutions operating on a five-day-a-week schedule, the timings will be from 9 am to 3 pm. Those offices with six working days will operate from 9 am to 2 pm. Recognizing the significance of Friday prayers, the working hours for all government offices will be shortened to 9 am to 12.30 pm on Fridays. This new schedule reflects a balance between facilitating religious observance and maintaining essential public services.

These shorter working hours are a traditional practice during Ramazan, allowing employees to dedicate time to prayer and other religious activities. The federal government and provincial governments have coordinated these changes to ensure consistency across the country. Other provinces like Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan have also announced their respective office timings for Ramazan, often with slight variations to suit local needs. For instance, Punjab’s timings differ slightly from the federal schedule. Balochistan, specifically in Quetta and its surroundings, has also implemented adjusted timings. It’s a testament to the government’s effort to consider the diverse needs of its employees during this special time.
