The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has extended the MD CAT test date by two weeks, which was earlier scheduled to be held on August 27, 2023. The PMDC had taken the stand that the test would be held on August 27, 2023 as the decision to hold the August 27 test was largely taking into account the arrangements already made and preparations for the test had been completed.13,000 candidates will participate in the test in Karachi and this test will be held in the Ojha campus of University of Karachi and Dow University and majority of the candidates will give the test in University of Karachi.

Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) has released MD CAT results on the PMC website www.pmc.gov.pk.However, the candidates were not told how many extra marks they were awarded for extra-syllabus and wrong questions. Jinnah Sindh Medical University is responsible for MD CAT written test and admission, Jinnah Sindh Medical University Vice Chancellor Professor Amjad Siraj Memon said that the written test in Karachi will be held at Muskan Gate Ground of Karachi University and Cricket Ground of Dow University Ojha Campus. It will be held while in Sindh, Lums University Jamshoro in Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad in Nawabshah, Bilawal Sports Complex Nawabshah and Larkana Police Training School will be held.

The examination centres would be set up in Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences of Balochistan; University of Health Sciences, Lahore; Khyber Medical University, Peshawar; Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad.
Two international examination centres for MDCAT would be established in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia, the sources said, adding that examination centre could be established in countries where the number of students intending to appear in the exams exceeded 100.

The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) has defended the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) before the Sindh High Court (SHC), stressing that it is mandatory for all students across Pakistan. Merit for private and public medical colleges is essential for ensuring and establishing a playing field. The results of the students appearing for the entrance examination on November 29 will be announced in ten days, while the examination for the candidates whose examination was to be held on December 13 will be announced.

Students who have passed FSC Pre-Medical with 60% marks are eligible to take the MDCAT exam. The MDCAT exam would be conducted in writing, on paper, instead of computer, while the result would be uploaded on PMC website on November 13.

Similarly, admissions of Agha Khan Medical College will be conducted by Agha Khan Medical University based on their declared prospectus subject to the mandatory condition of having passed the MDCAT. The MDCAT exams would be held on August 27, 2023.
Admission to all other private colleges for the 2023-2024 session will be conducted by PMC through a centralized automated system strictly on merit with MDCAT being given 50% weightage and balance. weightage to FSC or alternative high school qualification.
The proposed fee structure for private medical colleges will be submitted to the PMC while NUMS has been given the authority to conduct examinations under the F.SC syllabus. All the applications for the license can be submitted on the online portal and the process of all the delayed licenses will be started immediately while the whole process regarding the license will be completed in 4 weeks. Those wishing to enroll in foreign colleges will be responsible until the colleges are verified.
All medical colleges in Kyrgyzstan have been blacklisted and graduates from such colleges will not be eligible to apply for a license. In addition, Dr. Shaista Zeeshan has been appointed as Council Secretary on a contract basis for 2 months and Raza Shah has been posted as Director IT on a contract basis till permanent appointment. The council has also set up a committee on human resources, finance, examination, and law. The appointment process will be completed in 45 days by the Human Resource Committee for the appointment of members.

MDCAT examination is meant for students seeking to pursue MBBS and BDS degrees. For admission to the MBBS course the students are required to get at least 55% marks in MDCAT examination while the requirement for BDS course is 45% marks.
Students will be allowed to change the exam center once on this portal. PMCMD CAT Exam Registration Portal will be opened from 29 October to 2 November 2022 till 12:00 PM. The Competent Authority has taken this decision for the students to conduct the examination in their respective provinces and in their wider interest.
