HEC Law Graduate Assessment Test (LAW -GAT) Test July 2019

The Supreme Court of Pakistan vide its Order dated March 6, 2018, has directed the restoration of the Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT) by the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) through the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. The objective of the Assessment Test is to ensure proper scrutiny and evaluation of law graduates desirous to join the legal profession so that only competent individuals possessing necessary basic knowledge of law may enter the legal profession for practicing law. Therefore, henceforth a law graduate will only become eligible to apply to a Bar Council for enrolment as an Advocate if he/ she qualifies the Assessment Test to be conducted by the HEC, having been so authorized by the Pakistan Bar Council, pursuant to the aforementioned Order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and read with Section 26 (cc) of Legal Practitioners and Bar Council’s Act 1973.

Eligibility Criteria
Persons having passed Bachelor’s degree in law or equivalent from a university recognized by HEC/PBC are eligible to apply
Test Type
• The test will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
Date of Examination
The test will be conducted on Sunday, July 28, 2019. Any change in the test date will be communicated through http://etc.hec.gov.pk
Applicants who register through HEC online registration process will download their Roll Number Slips through http://etc.hec.gov.pk a
the week before the test date
Email/SMS will be sent to registered applicants for a test date, time and venue.
Candidates are required to provide validly
email/mobile number while filling online
Application form.
A print of Roll Number Slip and original CNIC will be required to enter in the test center
Deadline for Online Registration
The last date for online registration is Friday, July 12, 2019.

Details of Test Centres
The examination will be conducted in the Federal and Provincial capitals. Applicants may select any test center from the list available in the application form. Please note that the test center
will not be changed after registration.

Applicants are required to submit a copy of fee deposit slip/ATM/Online transfer or original bank draft through courier, or personally at Room No. 212, 2nd floor, HRD The building, HEC, H-8, Islamabad on or before the last date of registration

The examination fee is non-refundable and non-transferable

Other Requirements/Conditions
A 50% score is required to qualify the Law Graduate Assessment Test.
Applicants will have to meet other criteria, if any, as per Rules and Regulations of the Pakistan Bar Council.
Applicants will have a maximum of three chances to clear the test and HEC will conduct the test thrice a year.
