The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan recognized the urgent need to launch a programme to assist health professions educators in learning emerging medical education terminology and implementing effective teaching and assessment methodologies for undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. As a result, a diploma programme in health professions education was launched in 2004.
The program’s success made it possible for it to be upgraded to College membership (MCPS- HPE) in 2009. Evidence of motivation for medical education is used to determine admission to the MCPS-HPE programme. The program’s skilled instructors guarantee a seamless transition from medical or dental practitioners, consultants, or teachers to qualified and experienced medical educators.

Eligibility Criteria
Medical or dental graduates with one year house job
Valid registration with PMC / PMDC
Minimum two years of teaching experience after graduation or having worked in a Department of Medical Education for at least one year.
The two-year MCPS-HPE degree programme organises practical experiences in curriculum planning and evaluation, employing teaching tools and integrated teaching methods, creating and evaluating assessment instruments, and designing and assessing learning objectives and competences. Additionally, the programme encourages its graduates’ moral and social growth. The CPSP is taking the initiative to help the nation’s health professions education receive the much-needed development.

| Travel and accommodation expenses: | CPSP at Karachi and Lahore centers can provide accommodation during contact sessions, if available. Cost of stay and travel for the contact sessions will be borne by the applicant and are in addition to the above mentioned expenses. |
College of Surgeons and Physicians In Pakistan, a 2-year MCPS-HPE programme is being offered. It was first introduced in 2004 as a 15-month diploma programme, but as it gained momentum and popularity, it was raised to college membership in 2009 with an extra 9 months of academic research. Over a hundred medical educators have been generated by the programme, and they are helping to change medical education nationwide. This has given health professionals a new career path in academic medicine. The program’s objective is to prepare chosen medical and dental graduates from various levels and specialisations for a leadership position in academic medicine. The MCPS-HPE course provides its learners with the necessary competencies through its flexible programme and thorough content.
