Lahore: The Punjab government has taken another big step by issuing a gazette notification of “The Punjab Prevention of Hoarding Ordinance 2020”.
Under “The Punjab Prevention of Hoarding Ordinance 2020”, hoarders can be sentenced to up to three years imprisonment. 50% of the confiscated items will be deposited in the national treasury. While a dealer can check the warehouse without a warrant, the dealer will be required to submit a record of his production, export, import, stock, sales, and distribution to the concerned officer.

The Punjab government has issued an ordinance to take stern action against those who create an artificial crisis by hoarding. Action will be taken against those who stockpile 41 essential items including fertilizer, chemicals, pesticides, potatoes, and onions. Under the ordinance, a hoarding will be a non-bailable offense.
