State Bank has issued a public holiday announcement. According to the announcement issued by the State Bank of Pakistan, August 14, 2023 will be a public holiday due to which the State Bank will remain closed. Due to the closure of the Central Bank of Pakistan, all banks will also be closed, it should be noted that there is a public holiday across the country on August 14 on the occasion of Independence Day. All banks will open as usual for customers on Tuesday, August 15.

Banks and financial institutions will remain closed for three days. Banks will have two-week holidays on Saturday and Sunday while Monday, August 14 will be the Independence Day holiday. Today is the last day of the business week in most banks. Only a few limited and designated branches will open on Saturday while most branches will remain closed, banks and financial institutions will have normal activity on Tuesday.

Federal employees have public holidays on Saturday and Sunday, as Independence Day falls on Monday, government employees will benefit from three days off. There will also be a holiday on August 14, the federal government has not yet announced the holiday on August 14. A formal notification of public holiday on August 14 will be issued by the government.

The central bank mentioned that the business (banking) hours for public dealing being observed by the field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation (SBP-BSC) will be from 09:00 am to 01:00 pm (without break).

State Bank of Pakistan has announced holidays on Eid-ul-Fitr. State Bank will remain closed on Eid-ul-Fitr from 21st to 25th April.

Commercial and microfinance banks may open their branches on Saturdays in business centers, commercial centers and major cities to provide services to the public and business community. Banks’ booths at the port and customs house will provide 24-hour services as usual. Commercial and microfinance banks will provide a list of branches to be opened on Saturdays to the SBP and will also publish them on the public website.

The branches of the banks which are open on Saturdays should be marked prominently stating that this branch will remain open on Saturdays, the new working hours will be implemented immediately.
