Shalamar Medical & Dental College MBBS Admission Session 2020

All admissions shall be in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Pakistan Medical &Dental Council (PMDC)/University of Health Sciences (UHS) for the session 2020 applicable on the date of admission.

All admissions shall be through central induction policy and shall be in accordance with the rules prescribed by the regulatory authorities for the session 2019 applicable on the date of admission.

Any change in admission policy, by the concerned regulatory authorities, shall be implemented even after the admission forms have been submitted.

Shalamar Medical & Dental College offers a five-year undergraduate program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). Admission to the Medical College MBBS program is based on merit under the guidelines laid down by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council Islamabad (PMDC) and the University of Health Sciences, Lahore.

One Hundred fifty seats for MBBS are available out of which 15% (as per PMDC rules & regulations) are reserved for foreign/overseas/expatriate students.

Eligibility Criteria

Local Applicants

FSc/A-Levels (Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics) or any other equivalent qualification as determined by Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) with at least 60% Marks.

Appearance in Provincial Medical Colleges Entrance Test 2020.

Foreign /Overseas Applicants

FSc/A-Levels (Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics) or any other equivalent qualification as determined by Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) with at least 60% Marks.

Appearance in Provincial Medical Colleges Admission Test (MCAT) 2020.

SAT II scores (which must not be less than 550/800 in Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics each) or American MCAT scores which must not be less than 498 in the new scoring system in aggregate.

SAT II and MCAT (foreign) score shall be valid for 2 years only

Submission of Online Application Form

It has been observed that candidates are uploading irrelevant documents against the Provincial Entry Test result (held on 29th October 2020). All applicants are required to apply online for admission through the college website www.smdc.edu.pk/apply.html.  In case of any difficulty regarding the submission of the online application, please contact the Office of Student Affairs SMDC for assistance.

Online Applications can be filled within the campus.

Application submission fee is Rs. 3000/- payable at any branch of Meezan Bank.

The application must be submitted on the prescribed online application form.

Please ensure that copies of following scanned documents are attached with the application, the incomplete application will not be processed:

CNIC / Form B Self

CNIC Father

Matric or equivalent qualification as determined by IBCC

FSc or equivalent qualification as determined by IBCC

UHS entry test (held on 29th October 2020) or any other provincial MCAT result

SAT-II or MCAT result (In case of the foreign applicant)

Domicile

Shalamar Medical & Dental College reserves the right to revoke admission and registration if an application form is discovered to be inaccurate or incomplete, or if supporting documents are discovered to be fraudulent.

The candidate must clearly mention only one category Pakistani / Foreign/overseas to compete. In case of selecting more than one category, the candidate will be required to submit a separate form for each category.

The following components will be used for merit/selection determination:

Matric or equivalent                                                                            10%

Provincial Medical Colleges Admission Test (MCAT) 2017.        50%

or

SAT II scores (which must not be less than 550/800 in Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics each) or American MCAT scores which must not be less than 498 in the new scoring system in aggregate. The merit list shall be prepared by the selection committee after the last date of application submission.

Confirmation of Admission

The top applicants on the merit list will be invited in writing, to join the first year MBBS. All the remaining applicants stay on the waiting list. Any dropouts from the class will be replaced from the waiting list on merit.

Applicants will be informed of the selection individually by the following means:

–  Letter mailed at the residential address provided in the application forms.

–  Telephonically by call and SMS.

–  College notice board

No student shall be considered to have been admitted to SMDC unless he/she has paid college fees in full and all dues within specific date. If admission is not confirmed by the due date, it will be offered to the next candidate on the waiting list.

 Fee Structure

LOCAL STUDENTS

Admission Fee: Rs. 50,000 (one time only)

Tuition Fee: Rs. 800,000 (per annum)

FOREIGN/OVERSEAS STUDENTS

Admission Fee: US $ 2,500 (one time only)

Tuition Fee: US $ 15,000 (per annum)

Refund Policy

College follows the policy which is given by the PMDC / University of Health Sciences for a refund of tuition fee to the students and is subject to change as per the direction of Regulatory Authority.

Hostel

Shalamar Medical & Dental College provides hostel facilities to both girls and boys subject to availability. The students who need hostel accommodation must indicate this in the space specified in the college ‘Online Admission Application Form’. Information regarding the hostel fees is given in the college prospectus.

The candidate shall physically bring the required documents along with three (3) separate

Bank drafts as follows:

· SMDC Fee and Admission Fee of the amount according to the category of admission:

Local/Foreign /Expatriate

· UHS/PMDC& Applicable Govt.Tax etc. charges

· Prospectus Fee of PKR 3000/-

1. Matriculation/O level original certificate with an attested copy of the same

2. FSc/A level original certificate with an attested copy of the same

3. UHS /SAT –II/MCAT result with an attested copy of the same

4. CNIC/ B – form self along with an attested copy

5. CNIC Father /Mother along with an attested copy

6. Domicile original with an attested copy of the same

7. Certificate of Vaccination against:

a) Hepatitis B(full)

b) Tetanus(full)

8. Inoculation certificate for enteric group of fevers within the preceding 12 months

9. Certificate of their HIV status from prescribed laboratories in Pakistan. (for foreign students only)
