Phata Poster Nikla Hero Managed To Gross 19 Crore In The Opening Weekend
Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D’Cruz starrer Phata Poster Nikla Hero has done average business at the ticket counters.
Rajkumar’s Santoshi’s PPNH has generated a lot of curiosity among the masses, and so the team – producers Ramesh Taurani, Shahid Kapoor, and director Rajkumar Taurani was expecting good response from the ticker counters.
Phata Poster Nikla Hero managed to earn just Rs. 5.25 crores on the opening day. After receiving mixed reviews from critics and lukewarm response from the audience, PPNH managed to earn Rs. 19 Crore in the opening weekend.
The film minted just Rs. 6.25 crore on Saturday and witnessed a steady rise of Rs. 7.50 crores on Sunday.
Akshaye Rathi, the Exhibitor-distributor, feels that PPNH has all that it takes to draw in audience from all sections of the society. “The only thing that didn’t seem to work for it is the lack of appeal that Shahid Kapoor faces among movie goers.” He said.
“However, I expect PPNH to be steady at the lower level of collections till Besharam takes over in a big way, thus enabling the investors to cut corners and come closer to the finish line.” He explains.
According to the box office India, the movie collected around Rs 19.50 crore net in the first weekend. It had a decent growth but the opening point was too down, so overall weekend gross remained low.
Beside this, The Lunchbox had a wide release in terms of screening at multiplexes but occupancies were low, reportedly.
Phata Poster Nikla Hero saw its business in single screen circuits like Delhi, Mumbai and Punjab, therefore it’s tough for the film go anywhere.
It is yet to say whether Phata Poster Nikla Hero will bring in more reponse and help Shahid Kapoor create a new Box Office record, which seems difficult right now.
