Lahore: Famous TV anchor and compere Tariq Aziz has passed away in Lahore at the age of 84 years today on 17th June 2020. He was born on April 28, 1936, in Jalandhar and he migrated to Pakistan in 1947 with his family in Sahiwal.His love and attachment to Pakistan was such that he used to write Pakistani with his name even before it became Pakistan.

Tariq Aziz spent his childhood in Sahiwal and received his early education there.Later, his passion for poetry, literature and communication drew the legend of the future to Lahore, where he began his professional life with Radio Pakistan. He is also the first male television announcer. When Pakistan Television started broadcasting on November 26, 1964, it was Tariq Aziz who announced the birth of Pakistan Television. However, his stage show “Nilam Ghar”, launched in 1975, took him to the heights of fame. This program continued for many years, which was later renamed as Tariq Aziz Show and Bazm-e-Tariq

He received his early education in Sahiwal. He started his professional life with Radio Pakistan Lahore. When Pakistan Television was started in 1964, Tariq Aziz was the first male announcer of PTV. ۔ When the auction house was reopened after a gap of several years, it was renamed, Tariq Aziz Show. Thus, he hosted the program for more or less 40 years.

He has received many awards for his artistic services and in 1992 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Excellence by the Government of Pakistan. Tariq Aziz was a man who loved knowledge, literature and books.

He also showed the essence of his actions on the big screen, his first film “Insaniyat” was released in 1967.His collection of columns “Dastan” and his collection of Punjabi poetry “Hamzad Da Dukh” have been published. He wrote poetry not only in Urdu but also in his mother tongue Punjabi. He was the most successful actor, politician, poet, composer and voice actor.
