ISLAMABAD: The rate of fines on National Highways and Motorways has been increased, the rate of fines for 32 codes of traffic violations has been fixed. Revised penalty rates have been implemented under Schedule 12 which has also added Seven new traffic violation codes.

The fines under the new rate will be applicable from October 1, over speeding will now be fined Rs 2,500 instead of Rs 750, wrongful overtaking will be fined Rs 1,500 instead of Rs 300, driving without a license will now be fined Rs 5,000 instead of Rs 750. Failure to give way to an emergency service vehicle and ambulance will result in a fine of Rs 1,000. The rate of fine for negligent driving will be Rs 1500 instead of Rs 300. In the Traffic Code, driving while driving, using a mobile phone tablet or other electronic device for the first time will be fined.
A fine of Rs 500 will be imposed for violating the ban. Seat belt has also been made mandatory for the driver and passenger while driving and traveling, violation of which will result in a fine of Rs 1500, while driving with side mirror or defective glasses will also result in a challan of Rs 500. A fine of Rs 5,000 will be imposed for illegal police or other department revolving light on the vehicle, a fine of Rs 1,000 for fancy number plate or in-machine readable plate, a fine of Rs 2,000 for using HID lights, black glasses. A fine of 1000 rupees has also been fixed for driving while driving.
