A preliminary list of constituencies for local body elections in Islamabad has been released. 50 Union Councils have been formed in Islamabad. Each Union Council has 6 General Wards and 2 Women’s Wards. Objections to the preliminary delimitation list may be filed by April 30. The final list of constituencies for the local body elections in Islamabad will be released on May 19.
Islamabad Local Body Election 2022 Schedule
The Election Commission has issued notification of a new schedule for local body elections in the federal capital Islamabad. According to the Election Commission, work on delimitation will continue till January 7, 2022.
It has been decided to hold local body elections in Islamabad on April 15. Local body elections in Islamabad will be held through electronic voting machine. The Election Commission has requested 3,900 electronic voting machines from the federal government. The technology has been directed to be provided to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz said that 50 machines for training and testing are being provided to the Election Commission immediately. The Election Commission has fixed April 15 as the date for Islamabad local body elections. Before April 15, 3900 EMMs will be provided to the Election Commission.
The initial publication of the delimitation will be on January 8,2022 while the objections against the delimitation will be from January 9 to 23,2022.
According to the announcement, the final publication of the delimitation will be on February 16,2022. Immediately after the delimitation, the Election Commission will issue the schedule for the Islamabad Local Government Election.
