In a significant move to enhance public service delivery, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has partnered with the Pakistan Post Department to establish dedicated counters at General Post Offices (GPOs) nationwide. This initiative aims to provide citizens easier access to essential identity-related services, reducing the need to visit traditional NADRA centers.
Expansion of NADRA Services to Post Offices
NADRA has launched services in 83 selected GPOs and post offices nationwide, including major cities like Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. These counters are seamlessly integrated with NADRA’s system, enabling citizens to renew, modify, or replace lost National Identity Cards (NICs) efficiently. The operating hours for these services are Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with Friday hours until 12:30 PM. Importantly, the fees for services at post offices are consistent with those at NADRA centers. However, it’s noteworthy that services related to the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) are not available at these post office counters.
Services Available at Post Office Counters
The collaboration between NADRA and Pakistan Post aims to alleviate the long queues often experienced at NADRA centers. Citizens can now access a range of services at their nearest post offices, including:
Renewal of National Identity Cards: Individuals can renew their NICs up to one year after expiry.
Modification of Personal Details: Changes in marital status, home address, signatures, and photographs can be processed.
Issuance of Duplicate Cards: In case of lost or stolen NICs, replacements can be obtained.
It’s important to note that certain services, such as the issuance of Child Registration Certificates (CRC or Form-B) and Family Registration Certificates (FRC), are not available at these counters. Additionally, biometric verification for blood relations requires form renewal by a Grade 16 officer, as biometric facilities for such verifications are not provided at post offices.
Availability in Major Cities
In Karachi, ten GPOs, including those located in Saddar and II Chundrigar Road, have established NADRA service counters. Similarly, in the Lahore region, services are available at selected post offices, providing citizens with convenient access to identity-related services without the hassle of long waits.
Commitment to Citizen Convenience
This initiative reflects NADRA’s commitment to its “No Queue, No Wait” vision, aiming to streamline processes and make essential services more accessible to the public. By decentralizing services and utilizing the extensive network of post offices, NADRA ensures that citizens can manage their identity documentation needs more efficiently and conveniently.
