Governor Sindh Free Solar System For rented houses in Karachi

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori will start free solar systems for the people living in rented houses in Karachi. The solar panels will be provided free of cost, and households can use up to 300 units of electricity without any charges. No charges will be taken for installing solar.

Free electricity will be provided to consumers living outside the grid through solar energy solutions to those using 50 to 100 units of electricity. About 80,000 households consume 50 MW of electricity per month, including 441,483 in K Electric, 229,338 in HESCO, and 125,500 in SEPCO. Similarly, the number of households consuming 100 MW of electricity monthly is 1.9 million.

The Sindh government has Started Free solar systems for poor families in 30 districts across Sindh. Under the project, two lakh households will be provided with solar systems for only a nominal payment of Rs.6,000. Fifty thousand systems will reach Karachi for distribution by the end of October. Solar home systems will consist of 80 to 100-watt solar plates, 180 watts i.e. 18 Ah battery, a fan, three LED bulbs, and a mobile charging facility.

  • Residents of Karachi.
  • 300 units of electricity Consumers.

Households consuming up to 300 units of electricity, with a rent agreement and children under 10 years old, will be provided with free solar panels.

Households registered under the Benazir Income Support Program will be included in the program. Solar systems will be provided to low-income families at an 80% subsidy. The Sindh government has launched a project to provide home solar systems to poor families in 30 districts across Sindh, including Karachi.

Under the project, two lakh households will be provided with solar systems for a nominal payment of Rs.6,000 only. Fifty thousand systems will reach Karachi for distribution by the end of October. Solar home systems will consist of 80 to 100-watt solar plates, 180 watts i.e. 18 Ah battery, a fan, three LED bulbs, and a mobile charging facility. Eligible persons for the SOULS system should be determined from low-income households registered in the Benazir Income Support Program.
