ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has reduced the price of electricity by 21 paise per unit in the wake of the June fuel adjustment and Consumers will get relief in next month’s bills. The Presidential Ordinance will impose advance income tax of 5 to 35% on electricity bills. According to the details, additional tax will be levied on electricity bills of non-filers belonging to professional sectors. Under the ordinance, 15% tax will be levied on bills of Rs. 20,000 to 30,000 per month, bills of Rs. 30,000 to 40,000. I will have 20% tax, bills of Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 will have 25% advance tax. Under the ordinance, bills of Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000 per month will have 30% tax, electricity of more than Rs 75,000 per month 35% tax will be applicable in the bill, advance tax will be imposed in electricity bills under the presidential ordinance.
