ISLAMABAD: The Federal government of Pakistan has extended the scope of the Waseela e Taleem Program from primary education to secondary and higher secondary education. The Benazir Income Support Program Board (BISPB) has formally approved the inclusion of transgender (eunuchs) including first-year and second-year students in the Wasila Education Program.
First-year and second-year students will be given a stipend of Rs. 3500 on a quarterly basis, while 11th and twelfth-year students will be given a stipend of Rs. 4000 on a quarterly basis by joining the program. Five billion rupees will be allocated for this.
The Ministry of Social Security and Poverty Alleviation has set a target of enrolling more than 1.75 million students in the Ehsas Wasila Education Program during the current financial year. 225,000 students will be enrolled. Upon completion of the first quarter of the current financial year, the students of secondary and higher secondary classes will start getting scholarships.
The federal government has included secondary education in the Ehsas Wasila Education Program. The board also formally approved Rs 2,500 on a quarterly basis for secondary school children and Rs 3,000 for girls. According to Dr. Sania Nishtar, there are currently 18.7 million children between the ages of 6 and 16 in the country who live out of school.
How to apply for waseela Taleem program
The ministry has set a target of enrolling 9 million out-of-school children in the resource education program by 2024. In this regard, it has been decided to include the children pursuing secondary education after primary education in the resource education program. First-year and second-year students get Rs. 3500 on a quarterly basis while first-year and second-year students get Rs. 4000 per person. Eunuchs have also been formally approved for inclusion in the Ehsas Kifalat program. All ID cardholders will join the transgender Ehsas Kifalat program which will be awarded Rs 2,000 on a monthly basis.
The ministry has also decided to give a bonus of Rs 3,000 to girls on completion of primary education. Sources said that under the Wasila Education Program, 3.4 million primary school children are currently enrolled in schools, out of which each child is being given Rs 1,500 on a quarterly basis while each girl is being given Rs 2,000.
Enrollment is underway to enroll deserving primary school children in scholarships under the Ehsaas Waseela-e-Taleem Program. Waseela e Taleem Digital is a conditional cash transfer CCT program under the umbrella of Ehsaas for school-going children in primary education. The program has been scaled up nationwide, made end-to-end digital & girls get a higher stipend amount. Under the Ehsas Educational Scholarship Program, 5 children aged 4 to 12 years from each family will be able to benefit.
The inclusion of higher secondary education in the Waseela Education Program will benefit 700,000 students for whom Rs 5 billion will be allocated for the next financial year.
Ehsaas Waseela-e Taleem Program Online Registration
Under the Wasila E Taleem Program, 1500 rupees are being given to primary class children per month while 2000 rupees are being given to girls. Now, under this program, 2500 rupees per quarter will be given to secondary school children while 3000 rupees will be given to girls. Higher secondary class children will be given 3500 rupees per quarter while girls will be given 4000 rupees. An additional amount of Rs 3,000 will also be given to the girls on passing the fifth class.
The registration process is executed in the WeT districts after the completion of the SCA of public sector primary schools and private schools (if needed).
The registration process identifies the WeT potential families among the active BISP beneficiary households. BISP establishes registration centers at convenient locations for this purpose.
Admission and Attendance Compliance
The government has also approved the inclusion of secondary education in the Waseela Education Program. From next July, all deserving students from sixth to tenth will be given scholarships on a quarterly basis, out of which Rs. A stipend of Rs. 3,000 will be given.
Since the inception of the Waseela E Taleem Program, 4.45 million students have been enrolled and a total of Rs. 19 billion has been disbursed to them in the form of scholarships.
