Cyclone Bipper Joy Karachi Latest Updates

The intensity of Cyclone Bipper Joy in North-Eastern Arabian Sea has decreased. Chofan Bipar Joy, advancing towards Pakistan and India, has been downgraded from ‘Very Severe Cyclonic Storm’ to ‘Very Severe Cyclonic Storm’. According to the estimates of the Meteorological Department, the storm will hit between Kati Bandar in Sindh and Indian Gujarat on the afternoon or evening of June 15. The wind speed in the storm can be 100 to 120 km per hour.

The storm is 410 km from Karachi and 400 km from Thatta. Far away, the coastal areas of Thatta, Sajawal and Badin are experiencing rain and strong winds while the water level at Keti Bandar is continuously rising. Wind speeds are between 140 and 165 kilometers per hour in the center and flanks of the hurricane. Waves around the center of the storm are up to 30 feet high. After June 14, the storm will turn northeast, on June 15 afternoon or evening, the storm will make landfall between Kati Bandar in Sindh and Indian Gujarat.

Due to the arrival of the storm on the south-eastern coast, there may be strong winds, thundershowers and heavy rains. There may be very heavy rain at some places in Southeast Sindh. Thatta, Sajawal, Badin, Tharparkar, Umarkot are likely to experience heavy rain with thundershowers from today till June 17.

The wind speed in these areas can be 80 to 100 and sometimes even 120 km per hour.Karachi, Hyderabad are likely to experience heavy rain with wind and thunder between 14th and 16th June. Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allah Yar, Mirpurkhas is also likely to experience heavy rain from 14 to 16 June and winds of 60 to 80 kmph. Waves 8 to 12 in and around Kati Bandar during the storm. As feet may rise, fishermen are advised not to venture into the open sea until June 17.
