The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched a free solar panel scheme to provide sustainable energy solutions to vulnerable households across the province. Under this initiative, 130,000 families will receive free solar systems, with a focus on those registered under the Ehsaas Program and the Benazir Income Support Program.

In the first phase of the scheme, 32,500 individuals will be selected to receive solar systems through a lottery system. Priority will be given to areas that are deprived of electricity or have been severely affected by power outages. The scheme also extends to include vulnerable populations such as orphans, widows, disabled persons, and transgender individuals, ensuring that they are not left behind in the transition to renewable energy.
Those selected through the lottery will receive a comprehensive solar system package, which includes a solar panel, a controller to regulate the system, light bulbs for illumination, a fan for ventilation, and a battery for energy storage. This complete package aims to provide households with a reliable and independent source of power, improving their quality of life and reducing their reliance on traditional energy sources.
