KARACHI: Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) is releasing the fourth quarterly installment of Rs 9000 for the financial year 2022-23. Benazir Income Support Programme has decided to distribute the quarterly amount owed to eligible women through merchants of partner banks rather than camps due to bank service concerns and weather unpredictability. Money is being distributed to 9 million registered households under Benazir Kafalat, these stipends are being distributed on a quarterly basis of Rs 9,000 per household. The five districts of Sukkur, Quetta, North Waziristan, Lahore, and Peshawar will be the first to use the new method. The action was initiated in response to multiple complaints from recipients of deductions made by agents at payment sites.
The federal government announced a 25 percent increase in the Benazir Income Support Program budget, after which the fourth quarterly installment will be Rs. 9000. All messages from Benazir Income Support Program are sent through 8171 only. A quarterly installment of Rs 9,000 has been distributed to 48,70,000 beneficiaries from April to June. The beneficiaries women and trangenders of Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan will receive this money from Payment Centers or Biometric ATMs designated by Habib Bank; while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, the amount will be disbursed through Payment Centers or Biometric ATMs of Bank Al-Falah. The number of beneficiaries of unprecedented development has been increased from 2 lakh to 7 lakh 7 thousand and the number of beneficiaries of educational services has been increased from 26 lakh to 75 lakh 20 thousand.
