Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar Sawbi campus of women University start classes in two months
SWABI: The Swabi campus of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Peshawar is expected to start classes within two months, according to sources.
They said that a building constructed by the agriculture department in Gulu Dheri area for the purpose of research was allotted the university campus. The building was constructed during the previous government of Awami National Party.
However, sources said that the present government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf decided to establish a campus of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University in the building to facilitate girl students of the district.
Gulu Dheri is situated about three kilometres away from the district headquarters on Swabi-Topi Road. The classes are expected to be started within the next two months.
Sources said that the campus would only cater to the needs of girl students of Swabi but students of Buner, Haripur and other areas would also get an opportunity to acquire higher education.
They said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar visited the campus on Friday and inspected several sections. He directed the authorities concerned to accelerate the process of admission.
Mr Qaisar, when contacted, said that he was told that education in various disciplines including management sciences, computer science, economics, psychology, mathematics, statistics, geology, English, home economics, sociology, political science and history would be provided to girl students. The process of admission was already started, he added.
Mr Qaisar said that a piece of 135-kanal land was acquired for the campus and it was planned to extend it further, keeping in mind the increasing demand of the population.
“Swabi is the fourth most populous district of the province and it is the most fertile district in the entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It lies between the Indus and Kabul rivers and there area several historical places which are frequently visited by tourists of various countries.
The more important aspect of Swabi is that it is home of Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Khan, the founder of Islamia College Peshawar,” he said.
