Nasir Jamshed’s unbeaten century took Pakistan to a comfortable six-wicket win against India in Chennai.
India sets a target of 228 runs. Dhoni’s brilliant century steered India to 227-6 after India’s early collapse against Pakistan in the first One-day International here at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk today. Dhoni remained not out on 113, made off 125 balls with three sixes and seven fours. This was his eighth ODI hundred. He was ably supported by Ravichandran Ashwin , who made an unbeaten useful 31. Both added 125 runs for the unfinished seventh wicket partnership. Earlier, Dhoni also made 73 runs with Suresh Rain (43) to restore India who lost their early five wickets for only 29 runs. when they lost their early five wickets.Pakistan chased down a target of 227 with eleven balls left with Jamshed scoring 101 not out and smacking five fours and one six in his 132-ball innings.In the beginning of the second inning, India got the upper hand when debutant Bhuvneshwar Kumargot Muhammad Hafeez out for a diamond duck.The shocked Pakistani side crawled to the score of 52 runs after 16 overs at the loss of two wickets but the following Jamshed-Khan partnership brought the ball in Pakistan’s court.Earlier, Indian skipper MS Dhoni led the team across the 200 runs line, finishing the innings at 227 runs at a loss of six wickets.Dhoni not only earned a century, but also crossed the 7000 mark on runs in his ODI career.Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni’s partnership came to an end at 102 runs when Muhammad Hafeez bowled Raina out in the 33rd over.With only six overs left, India had scored 165 runs at the loss of six wickets.Pakistan has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after (ANI)
